Homeless Ministry

The Homeless Ministry hosts homeless families at Little Flower Parish seasonally four times each year. The group provides a welcoming safe environment for homeless families. Volunteers are needed to host these families, provide meals, companionship, and food/supplies.

The Archdiocesan Safe Environment Policy requires that all adult volunteers directly serving youth and vulnerable adults complete a volunteer application, submit to a background check, agree to abide by the Archdiocesan Policies and Code of Ethics and attend the Protecting God’s Children Workshop. See the Safe Environment section on the parish website for details. Only those volunteers who have complied with these requirements may directly serve our homeless ministry guests. Compliance is not necessary to assist with the laundry, setup or teardown, to drop off a meal item or to donate groceries and supplies.

Next Hosting: Homeless Hosting in Westfield- Wed. April 11 & Fri. April 13, 2018

Due to the Little Flower Going Home project, we have transitioned our homeless ministry by hosting our Family Promise guest families at alternative locations. The next of these will be at the First United Methodist Church in Westfield from Sunday April 8 through Sunday April 15, 2018. The evenings for Little Flower volunteers to participate will be Wednesday, April 11, and Friday, April 13.

Most volunteer positions only require about 2 hours of your time.

For those preparing dinner meal courses, these will be collected at Little Flower by 5:30 PM and then delivered to the First United Methodist Church in Westfield

The location of the First United Methodist Church is 1 E Broad St. Westfield, NJ 07090 (For GPS, enter 130 Ferris Place Westfield NJ, 07090).

The respective sign-up links are:

1) For Safe Environment policy compliant volunteers to serve as the evening coordinator, dinner, evening, overnight and breakfast hosts or as emergency drivers:
2) For any volunteers to drop off a meal item or deliver same:
