  • WELCOME FR. MATTHEW DOOLEY

    FrMattPic

The fourth of five sons to Dr. and Mrs. Charles E. Dooley Jr., Fr. Matthew was born and raised in Mountainside and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.   He attended Jonathan Dayton High School in Springfield and Providence College, Providence, RI in 1988, with a BA in Social Work.  Fr. Matt has 12 nieces and nephews.

After college, Fr. Matthew discerned religious life for a year with the Glenmary Home Missioners of America, who serve the poor and unchurched of rural America. He then served as a licensed funeral director for 12 years before returning to rural America where he facilitated a faith based service program for young adults sponsored by the Glenmary Home Missioners in the missions of Eastern Kentucky.  Following this year, Fr. Matthew was accepted as a priest candidate for the Archdiocese of Newark. He was ordained on May 23, 2009 after completing his theological studies and formation.

He has served in the faith community of St. Peter the Apostle Parish in River Edge where he lived for six years. He also served as the Vicar for Family Life and also as the Chaplain to the Newman Catholic campus ministry program at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken.  For the past two years Fr. Matthew has served as the Director of Vocations for the Archdiocese.

Fr. Matthew is a loyal NY Giants fan.  A former skydiver, he has brought his hobbies and interest back to earth focusing on golf and skiing when time allows. We welcome Fr. Matt to Little Flower Parish!

  • WELCOME OLIVIA BENSON, DIRECTOR OF YOUTH & FAMILY MINISTRY

    OliviaHeadshot

Hello! My name is Olivia Benson and I am thrilled to be joining Little Flower as the new Director of Youth and Family Ministry. I previously have served in local high school and young adult Catholic ministries and I look forward to bringing new outreach efforts to the youth of Little Flower.

I would like to share a little bit about myself.  I am a Seton Hall graduate with degrees in Catholic Studies and Biology.  Throughout my time at Seton Hall I worked as a peer mentor and was heavily involved in Catholic campus organizations such as The Fellowship of Catholic University Students and St. Paul’s Outreach. Most recently, I have worked for The Liberty Science Center, though I have also spent years at other family fun centered organizations including The Turtle Back Zoo. I thank God for this new journey He has set me on at Little Flower and am excited to serve Him by serving the youth and families of this parish.

If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to drop by and see me at the rectory office Monday – Friday during normal business hours.  I am looking forward to meeting you and am so thankful for your warm welcome.  Please continue to keep me in your prayers as I begin my work and be assured you are in mine.

  • CEMETERY VETERAN FLAGS & MEMORIALS POLICY

In recent days, several news outlets and online bloggers have carried stories about Veteran flags and memorials in  Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese. To clarify some of the information presented in these stories, please read the statement below from the Archdiocese, explaining the policy which maintains both the appropriate respect for those interred in Catholic Cemeteries, and a consistent high standard of reverence, safety and appearance.
